Methow Conservancy: Expeditionary Art: Imaging the Arctic”
Tues, Oct 7, 7-8:30pm, 2014
A Methow Conservancy First Tuesday event. Explore the Arctic through art and science with expeditionary artist Maria Coryell-Martin. Learn about her recent expedition to Greenland through field sketches, studio paintings, and multimedia recordings. In Spring 2013, Maria accompanied marine mammal biologist Dr. Kristin Laidre and her team onto the pack ice of Baffin Bay as they studied narwhals, an iconic species of the arctic. Following the tradition of artists working with early explorers, Maria worked with ink and watercolor to illustrate the scientific research and arctic landscape. Imaging the Arctic will be exhibited December 12—February 22nd at the Nordic Heritage Museum in Seattle. L
