WALKING THE WILD EDGE explores the beauty of wild nature and the tension of human-wild interaction at the edges of wildness. A portion of profits from the show will benefit the Methow Conservancy and the important work they do conserving our wild places in the Methow Valley.

NEW WORKS FROM KITTITAS COUNTY: Gallery One Visual Arts Center Presents Best in Show Juried Works from Kittitas County Artists

Curated by Executive Director Monica Miller and Exhibits Coordinator Renee Adams of Gallery One Visual Arts Center, this exhibit features new works of selected artists from the past 10 years of the Kittitas County Juried Show “Best in Show” winners. The collection showcases the some of the breadth and diversity of artists in the area, as well as, the wide range of contemporary art being produced. From sculptural works to digital manipulations, it shakes up the notion that central Washington is just for cowboys.

SEATTLE ARTIST STEPHANIE HARGRAVE’S B I O T A

Hargrave’s encaustic paintings are inspired by botany, biology and abstract organic imagery. Her paintings incorporate a tendency to abstract organic forms, and in doing so, emphasize the direct correlation between subject matter and materials, as pure bee’s wax, resin and pigments are heated, layered and fused.

BRIAN SOSTROM PRESENTS “DARKENING LIGHT”

Sostrom’s atmospheric acrylic paintings are heavily inspired by the beauty and emptiness of nature here in the Pacific Northwest. The images are not intended to communicate a specific story, but, rather to create an intriguing visual poem. Brian combines traditional techniques with unusual materials, using open acrylic paint on a smooth transparent surface. Lighting and atmosphere are at the very heart of his work and to create the brightest glow he finds himself “darkening the light.”
