Jarabe Mexicano
Jarabe Mexicano
Jarabe Mexicano captures the nostalgic spirit of their border roots with their unique "Bordeno-Soul" sound, honoring the diverse musical and cultural influences of its members. The name Jarabe, meaning "concoction," perfectly describes the eclectic mix of genres they perform—from Mexican Folk, Rock & Roll, and Norteño/Tex Mex to Latin Rock, Trio Romantico, and popular Cumbia. Their traditional Mariachi string instruments and Norteño-inspired drums are paired with dynamic vocals in English, Spanish, and Spanglish, creating a performance that celebrates both change and tradition.
Lauded as cultural ambassadors by the Mexican Consulate in the United States, Jarabe Mexicano believes every performance is a chance to deepen community connections. Their all-ages programming features music and personal stories that illuminate life along the US-Mexico border. Whether it’s a romantic ballad for a heartfelt serenade or energetic dance music that will get everyone on their feet, this border fiesta promises an unforgettable experience!

Join Methow Arts this holiday season as we bring you the Jose “Juicy” Gonzales trio as they perform their holiday hit, Vince Guaraldi’s “A Charlie Brown Christmas” live, with Juicy telling stories about the making of the special. For the past 12 years the show has sold out in Seattle.
Rooted in jazz, fueled by the blues, marinated in funk, pianist/singer Jose ‘Juicy’ Gonzales delivers a rich, dynamic experience. Juicy has performed in Germany, New York, California, Seattle, & Oregon & has been featured on the radio including BBC Radio 2’s The Swing & Big Band Show with Clare Teal. His fresh sound is informed by classic jazz of the 50’s & 60’s including Thelonious Monk, Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, & Miles Davis, along with pop icons Elton John, Beatles, Prince & more.
From a very young age Jose Gonzales had a creative curiosity. While immersing himself in Seattle’s theatre scene in the 90’s, Jose began teaching himself jazz, leading to a lifetime of making and sharing music on both coasts and in Europe. His trio has become a Northwest favorite with their memorable performances of Vince Guaraldi’s “A Charlie Brown Christmas” for the last 12 years, as well as other performances throughout the year.
